Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
- 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk or heavy cream
- Optional: additional whole strawberries and glaze for topping
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
- Spread sliced strawberries evenly on the bottom of a greased baking dish.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over the strawberries in an even layer.
- Sprinkle the yellow cake mix evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Drizzle melted butter over the cake mix to help it bake into a crust.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 45-50 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
- Allow the cake to cool slightly. For optional glaze, mix powdered sugar with a bit of milk or cream and drizzle over the cooled cake. Garnish with fresh strawberries if desired.
Notes
- Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor; frozen berries can be used after thawing and draining excess moisture.
- Ensure cream cheese is softened for easy mixing.
- Avoid overbaking to prevent dryness; look for a golden crust.
- Feel free to add toppings like crushed graham crackers or chopped nuts for extra crunch.
