Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or a mixture of beef and pork)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for glaze)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley or herbs
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and herbs if using. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Transfer the mixture onto a baking sheet or into a loaf pan. Shape into a loaf shape or place it directly into the pan, smoothing the top.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake uncovered for 45-55 minutes. During the last 10 minutes, brush with additional ketchup or glaze.
- Once cooked, let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing to retain juices. Serve with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes or vegetables.
Notes
- Use lean ground turkey or chicken as a healthier alternative.
- Add chopped vegetables like bell peppers or carrots for extra nutrition.
- Make ahead and refrigerate the unbaked loaf for up to 24 hours.
- For a crispy top, broil the meatloaf for the last 2-3 minutes.
