Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large apples (preferably tart or semi-sweet) – sliced or chopped
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Mix the dry ingredients: in a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Combine wet ingredients: in a large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until well blended. Stir in the melted butter and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in the sliced or chopped apples until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving for a finishing touch.
Notes
- Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for balanced flavor.
- Don’t over-mix the batter; fold gently to keep the cake tender.
- Test for doneness with a toothpick; it should come out clean.
- For extra moisture, brush with melted butter mixed with sugar during cooling.
