Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box of your favorite vanilla or chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup of vanilla frosting
- Red food coloring
- Dark chocolate or black icing for splatter effect
- Wooden cakepop sticks or lollipop sticks
- Spray cooking oil or paper liners for the molds
- Optional: edible glitter or sprinkles for extra spooky effects
Instructions
- Follow the instructions on your cake mix box and bake the cakes in a standard oven. Once cooled, crumble the cake into a large mixing bowl.
- Add vanilla frosting to the crumbled cake and mix thoroughly until the mixture holds together when pressed.
- Mold the mixture into small balls or rectangular shapes resembling mini cakes. Insert a wooden or lollipop stick into each piece, ensuring it is centered.
- Place the cakesicles on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for at least 2 hours until firm.
- Melt dark chocolate using a microwave or double boiler. Dip each frozen cakesicle into the melted chocolate to coat evenly. Return to the tray and set aside.
- Mix red food coloring into a small amount of dark chocolate or icing. Use a toothpick or fine brush to flick or drizzle the red mixture over the chocolate-covered cakesicles to create blood splatter effects.
- Add edible glitter or sprinkles for extra spookiness. Let decorations set before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the cakesicles are fully frozen before dipping in chocolate for a clean, smooth coating.
- Use parchment paper between layers for storage to prevent smudging the blood splatter designs.
- Adjust the amount of red food coloring for a darker or lighter blood effect.
