Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box of red velvet cake mix
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- White chocolate or candy melts for coating
- Food coloring (optional red or black for extra spooky effect)
- Edible eyes or sprinkles for decorations
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking pan according to the cake mix instructions. Bake the red velvet cake and let it cool completely. Crumble the cooled cake into small crumbs in a large mixing bowl.
- Add softened cream cheese and butter to the crumbled cake. Mix thoroughly until well combined. Shape into small balls about the size of a golf ball and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- While chilling, melt white chocolate or candy melts according to the package directions. Dip each cake ball into the melted coating, ensuring full coverage. Gently tap off excess coating and insert a lollipop stick into each ball. Place upright in a styrofoam block to set.
- Once the coating is firm, melt red or black colored chocolate or candy melts. Drizzle or splatter over the cake pops to resemble blood splatters. Decorate with edible eyes or sprinkles for a spooky effect.
Notes
- Use high-quality melting chocolates for a smooth coating.
- Chill the cake balls properly to ensure they don’t fall apart when coated.
- Decorate with edible eyes, sprinkles, or edible blood for a more gruesome look.
