Ingredients
- Fresh large apples (preferably Granny Smith or Fuji)
- Chocolate melting wafers or high-quality chocolate chips (white, milk, or dark)
- Food coloring (gel or liquid) – red, black, and flesh-tone shades
- Edible eyes or candy eyes
- Candy melts or colored icing for detailing
- Plastic doll face molds or edible doll face toppers
- Wooden sticks or skewers
- Decorative sprinkles (optional)
- Spray or edible glitter for spooky effects (optional)
Instructions
- Wash and thoroughly dry the apples. Insert a wooden stick into each apple’s stem side. Chill the apples for 10-15 minutes for a firmer coating.
- Melt chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth, stirring frequently. Add food coloring as desired for skin tones.
- Dip each apple into the melted chocolate, ensuring an even coat. Let excess drip off before placing on parchment paper. Chill for 20-30 minutes to set.
- Create doll faces using edible molds or detailed icing with colored gel. Attach edible eyes to add realism. Use a quick-drying method if needed.
- Gently press the creepy doll faces onto the chocolate-coated apples. Use melted chocolate as glue if necessary. Decorate with sprinkles or edible glitter for a spooky effect, adding red icing for blood effect if desired.
Notes
- Ensure apples are completely dry before dipping to avoid chocolate seizing.
- Chilling apples before coating helps achieve a smooth finish and easier handling.
- Use edible eyes and faces for best results, or craft DIY faces with icing for customization.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
- Avoid direct sunlight to prevent chocolate from melting or softening.
