Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large crisp apples (Granny Smith or Fuji work great)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup light corn syrup
- ½ cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon white food coloring (optional)
- Edible glitter or shimmer dust (for sparkling effect)
- Wooden popsicle sticks or skewers
Instructions
- Wash apples thoroughly and remove wax coating. Dry completely.
- Insert wooden skewers into apple stems and place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.
- Cook until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat.
- Stir in vanilla extract and white food coloring, if using.
- Carefully pour or dip apples into the hot candy coating, ensuring even coverage.
- Sprinkle edible glitter or shimmer dust immediately for a sparkling effect.
- Place coated apples on parchment paper and let set for 15-20 minutes at room temperature.
Notes
- Work quickly when pouring or dipping to prevent the coating from hardening prematurely.
- Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 2 days for maximum sparkle and freshness.
- For a more personalized touch, drizzle with contrasting melted chocolate or add decorative edible pearls.
