Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Additional melted butter for brushing
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Create a well and add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and beaten egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled.
- Punch down the dough, divide into equal portions, shape into balls, and arrange in a greased baking pan. Cover and let rise for 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops with melted butter and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oven, brush with additional melted butter, and serve warm.

- You can prepare the dough a day ahead and refrigerate overnight.
- Brush with melted butter for extra flavor and shine.
