  • Total Time: 4 hours 15 minutes to 6 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds of beef flank steak or sirloin, sliced thinly
  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
  • 1/4 cup oyster sauce
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
  • Optional: red pepper flakes for a spicy kick

Instructions

  1. Begin by thinly slicing the beef against the grain. Place the sliced beef in the slow cooker and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Pour this mixture over the beef in the slow cooker.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until the beef is tender and flavorful.
  4. Approximately 30 minutes before serving, add broccoli florets. Mix cornstarch with cold water to form a slurry, then stir it into the cooking liquid to thicken the sauce. Cover and cook for another 30 minutes.
  5. Drizzle sesame oil over the dish, toss gently, and serve hot. Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

  • Use thinly sliced beef for tender results.
  • Fresh broccoli is preferred, but frozen can be used, added during the last 30 minutes.
  • Adjust spice level with red pepper flakes.
  • Serve over steamed jasmine rice or cauliflower rice for a complete meal.
