Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 pounds of beef flank steak or sirloin, sliced thinly
- 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 1/2 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 1/4 cup oyster sauce
- 1/4 cup beef broth or water
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon honey or sugar
- Optional: red pepper flakes for a spicy kick
Instructions
- Begin by thinly slicing the beef against the grain. Place the sliced beef in the slow cooker and set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Pour this mixture over the beef in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours until the beef is tender and flavorful.
- Approximately 30 minutes before serving, add broccoli florets. Mix cornstarch with cold water to form a slurry, then stir it into the cooking liquid to thicken the sauce. Cover and cook for another 30 minutes.
- Drizzle sesame oil over the dish, toss gently, and serve hot. Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.
Notes
- Use thinly sliced beef for tender results.
- Fresh broccoli is preferred, but frozen can be used, added during the last 30 minutes.
- Adjust spice level with red pepper flakes.
- Serve over steamed jasmine rice or cauliflower rice for a complete meal.
