Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450 g) thinly sliced beef (sirloin or flank steak works great)
- 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce or hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- Optional: sliced green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain, then toss with 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 teaspoon cornstarch. Marinate for 10 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add marinated beef and cook 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Add a splash of oil if needed, then stir-fry garlic and ginger until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add broccoli and cook 3-4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender.
- Return beef to the pan. Mix remaining soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and a splash of water or broth. Pour over beef and broccoli, stirring well. Cook 2-3 minutes until heated through and sauce thickens.
Notes
- Slice the beef very thinly for tender results.
- Donβt overcrowd the pan; cook in batches if necessary.
- Use fresh broccoli for optimal crispness and flavor.
