  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (preferably 80% lean)
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined. Form into 4 to 6 evenly sized patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, pour in beef broth and soy sauce if using. Bring to a simmer, scraping up browned bits from the bottom. Mix cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry, then slowly whisk into the gravy to thicken. Simmer for a few minutes until desired consistency.
  4. Return the patties to the skillet and coat with gravy. Let simmer for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • For gluten-free options, use gluten-free bread crumbs and sauces.
  • Adjust seasoning and gravy thickness to taste.
