Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups of peeled and diced tart apples (like Granny Smith)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup salted caramel sauce
- Flaky sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and blend with a pastry cutter or fingers until coarse crumbs form. Press evenly into a greased 9×13-inch baking pan. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
- While crust bakes, toss diced apples with cinnamon and nutmeg. Spread evenly over the partially baked crust.
- Drizzle salted caramel sauce over the apples, ensuring even coverage. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
- Return to oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden around the edges. Let cool before slicing to allow caramel to set.
