- 1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: Chocolate chips or chunks for extra gooeyness
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients and prepare your baking station.
- Cream the softened butter and sugar together until fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll dough into balls using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, place on a parchment-lined baking sheet, and slightly flatten.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set and slightly crisp.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely or enjoy warm.
Notes
- Use room temperature butter for better mixing and texture.
- Do not overbake; cookies will crisp as they cool.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- Cookies can be frozen for up to 3 months; reheat briefly before serving.
