Ingredients
Scale
- 3 to 4 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup sugar (white or brown)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or chocolate chips
Instructions
- Begin by peeling and mashing the ripe bananas until smooth. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla until creamy and well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined, avoiding overmixing.
- If desired, fold in chopped walnuts or chocolate chips for added flavor and texture.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Monitor to prevent overbaking.
Notes
- Use heavily ripened bananas with brown spots for best flavor and moisture.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
- Store cooled banana bread tightly wrapped or in an airtight container to retain moisture.
- For longer storage, freeze slices or the entire loaf for up to 3 months.
