Ingredients
Scale
- 200g feta cheese, crumbled
- 1 sheet of puff pastry or filo dough, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- Olive oil for brushing
- ¼ cup honey for chili honey sauce
- 2 tablespoons chili flakes or hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Fresh herbs for garnish (such as parsley or cilantro)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the crumbled feta cheese with a teaspoon of chopped herbs. Set aside for filling.
- Roll out the puff pastry or filo dough on a lightly floured surface and cut into squares or strips.
- Place a small spoonful of feta filling in the center of each pastry square and fold corners over to seal. Brush with beaten egg.
- Dip each roll in flour, then coat with bread crumbs. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet, brush with olive oil and bake at 200°C (392°F) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- In a saucepan, heat honey with chili flakes and lemon juice. Stir and simmer briefly. Serve warm with the feta rolls.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- Reheat in the oven at 180°C (356°F) for 10 minutes to restore crispiness.
- Customize the heat of your chili honey sauce by adjusting the amount of chili used.
