- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup Italian-style tomato sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ยฝ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken until golden brown, about 6-8 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- Add minced garlic to the skillet and cook until fragrant. Pour in tomato sauce and bring to a simmer. Coat chicken in panko breadcrumbs and return to the skillet.
- Top chicken with mozzarella and Parmesan. Cover and cook on low heat for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, sprinkle additional panko on top of the cheese.
- Substitute with marinara sauce for added flavor or mix in red pepper flakes for heat.
- Use ground chicken or turkey for a lighter option.
- Choose part-skim cheese and reduce oil for a healthier dish.
