Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or ground turkey for a healthier option)
- 1 cup finely chopped mushrooms
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Sauté diced onion, garlic, and chopped mushrooms in a skillet until tender and fragrant. Let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Add the sautéed mushroom mix and half of the shredded Swiss cheese. Gently mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf in a greased loaf pan or on a baking sheet. Top with remaining Swiss cheese and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C). Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use freshly sautéed mushrooms for a more intense flavor.
- You can adjust the amount of Swiss cheese to your preference for cheesiness.
- Replace ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a healthier version.
- Serve with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a green salad for a complete meal.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
