Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly and frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until the dough begins to form.
- Knead on a lightly floured surface for 7-8 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, mix minced garlic, melted butter, and Parmesan in a small bowl.
- Punch down the risen dough and roll into a ½-inch thick rectangle. Spread garlic butter mixture evenly, then sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
- Cut into 1-inch wide strips, twist slightly or leave straight, and place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush breadsticks with extra melted butter if desired. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve hot with marinara or your favorite dipping sauce.
