Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 6 to 8 tablespoons ice water
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 ½ cups of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. Add in 1 cup of chilled, diced unsalted butter. Mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Slowly drizzle in 6 to 8 tablespoons of ice water, mixing gently until the dough comes together. Avoid overmixing.
- Shape the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to fit your pie dish, ensuring it’s about 1/8 inch thick. Transfer carefully to the dish and trim the edges.
Notes
- If storing leftover crust, wrap it in plastic and refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
- This crust works well for both sweet and savory pies. Experiment with different fillings!
- Prevent shrinking by allowing adequate resting time for the dough.
