Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- For the sweet and savory glaze:
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef or turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese (if using), chopped onion, minced garlic, eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Shape the meat mixture into a loaf shape or place in a loaf pan.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F.
- While baking, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce to make the glaze.
- Remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the glaze evenly over the top.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until bubbly and caramelized on top.
- Let rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving with your favorite sides.
Notes
- You can substitute ground chicken or turkey for a leaner option.
- Use oats or almond flour instead of breadcrumbs for a healthier twist.
- For a sweeter glaze, replace ketchup with honey or maple syrup.
