Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef (or a mixture of beef and pork)
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: chopped parsley or herbs for added flavor
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, eggs, chopped onion, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Shape the meat mixture into a loaf or place it in a loaf pan. Spread additional ketchup on top for a tasty glaze.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Rest for 10 minutes before slicing to retain juices.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure proper doneness.
- Experiment with herbs like parsley or Italian seasonings for variation.
- For extra moistness, add a splash of beef broth or shredded cheese into the mixture.
- Leftovers reheat well in the oven or microwave.
