Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Salt to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Peel and slice potatoes into thin rounds. Slice smoked sausage into bite-sized pieces. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until fragrant and translucent. Stir in smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt.
- Layer sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Top with sautéed onion and garlic mixture, then add sausage slices. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Cover with foil and bake for about 45 minutes, or until potatoes are tender. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes to brown the cheese.
Notes
- Ensure potatoes are sliced evenly for uniform cooking.
- You can substitute smoked sausage with chicken or turkey sausage for a leaner option.
- This dish can be made ahead, assembled in advance, and refrigerated prior to baking.
