- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef or turkey
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (24 oz) jar marinara sauce
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 15 oz (425 g) ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet and sauté diced onion and minced garlic until translucent.
- Add ground beef or turkey, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
- Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook lasagna noodles in boiling salted water until al dente, then drain.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a baking dish.
- Layer cooked noodles over the sauce.
- Spread ricotta cheese evenly over noodles, then sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Repeat layers until ingredients are used, ending with a cheese layer on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Drain excess grease from the cooked meat before layering.
- Allow the lasagna to rest for at least 10 minutes after baking to set the layers.
- Feel free to incorporate vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, or zucchini for added nutrition.
