Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (10 oz) of cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 bag (32 oz) of frozen tater tots
- Optional toppings: chopped pickles, sliced tomatoes, extra cheese
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add diced onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant and translucent. Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
- In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup with sour cream, half of the shredded cheese, paprika, and salt and pepper. Mix until smooth.
- Spread the cooked ground beef mixture evenly in a large baking dish. Pour the creamy soup mixture over the beef, spreading gently.
- Layer the frozen tater tots on top, covering the entire surface.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes, until tater tots are crispy and golden brown. During the last 5 minutes, sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
Notes
- Use freshly frozen tater tots for optimal crispiness.
- Feel free to customize with your favorite toppings like pickles or tomatoes.
- This casserole can be assembled in advance and refrigerated before baking.
- For a healthier version, substitute ground turkey, low-fat sour cream, and reduced-fat cheese.
