Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large head of green cabbage
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs like parsley or dill (for garnish)
Instructions
- Start by removing the core from the cabbage. Blanch the leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes until soft, then peel and cool.
- In a bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Place a cabbage leaf flat, spoon about two tablespoons of filling in the center, fold sides over, and roll tightly from the bottom.
- Arrange the rolls in a baking dish or slow cooker, pour tomato sauce over them, and cover.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour or cook in a slow cooker on low for 4-6 hours.
Notes
- Ensure to blanch the cabbage properly to make rolling easier.
- For added flavor, use a mix of ground beef and sausage.
- You can prepare these ahead of time and refrigerate or freeze leftovers.
