Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef or ground lamb
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3 cups mashed potatoes (prepared ahead or homemade)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic. Cook until translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
- Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for 2 minutes to develop flavors.
- Transfer the meat mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading evenly.
- Spoon mashed potatoes over the meat, smoothing gently. Sprinkle cheese on top.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with parsley and serve hot. For an extra touch, add a side of roasted mushrooms.
Notes
- Use leftover mashed potatoes or make your own for creamier texture.
- Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a healthier option.
- Adjust seasonings to taste; add paprika or extra Worcestershire for more flavor.
- Cover with foil during baking to prevent cheese from burning.
