- 1 lb ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 cups mashed potatoes (prepared with butter and cream)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Optional: marinara sauce for added flavor
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into 12 meatballs. Set aside.
- Place meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes until cooked through.
- While the meatballs bake, prepare mashed potatoes if not already done. Spread a layer of mashed potatoes in a greased baking dish.
- Arrange cooked meatballs evenly over the mashed potatoes. Cover with remaining mashed potatoes and smooth the top.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella over the top. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for another 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden. Optional: broil for 2-3 minutes for a crispy cheese topping.

- Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
- For a flavor boost, add marinara sauce or fresh herbs before baking.
- This dish can be assembled a day ahead and refrigerated until ready to bake.
