Ingredients
Scale
- 20 large pasta shells
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Cook the large shells in boiling salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool slightly.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté chopped onion and garlic until fragrant. Add ground beef or turkey, season with salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Cook until browned. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, Parmesan, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Stir in the cooled meat mixture. Adjust seasoning if needed.
- Carefully fill each cooked shell with the ricotta and meat mixture using a spoon or piping bag. Arrange the stuffed shells in a baking dish.
- Pour marinara sauce over the shells, sprinkle with remaining mozzarella cheese, cover with foil, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute the meat with sautéed spinach or mushrooms.
- Use high-quality marinara sauce for richer flavor.
- Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving to set the filling.
