Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (85% lean)
- 1/2 lb ground pork (optional for extra flavor)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: additional ketchup or BBQ sauce for glazing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and pork, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well incorporated.
- Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread a layer of ketchup or preferred glaze on top.
- Bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). During the last 10 minutes, brush with additional ketchup or BBQ sauce. Optional: broil for 2-3 minutes to caramelize the top.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides.
Notes
- Ensure the meat mixture is not too wet or dry for easy shaping and baking.
- Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes after baking to help it hold its shape when sliced.
- You can customize with chopped vegetables or bacon for extra flavor.
