  • Total Time: 1 hour 20 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (85% lean)
  • 1/2 lb ground pork (optional for extra flavor)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: additional ketchup or BBQ sauce for glazing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and pork, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well incorporated.
  2. Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread a layer of ketchup or preferred glaze on top.
  3. Bake for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). During the last 10 minutes, brush with additional ketchup or BBQ sauce. Optional: broil for 2-3 minutes to caramelize the top.
  4. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Ensure the meat mixture is not too wet or dry for easy shaping and baking.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for a few minutes after baking to help it hold its shape when sliced.
  • You can customize with chopped vegetables or bacon for extra flavor.
