Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon sugar coating)
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for cinnamon sugar coating)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a donut pan by spraying it with non-stick spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Divide the batter evenly into the donut pan cavities, filling about three-quarters full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool slightly on a wire rack.
- In a shallow dish, mix ½ cup sugar with 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon to make the cinnamon sugar coating.
- Once the donuts are cool enough to handle, lightly brush each donut with melted butter and roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
Notes
- Handle the batter gently to keep donuts soft and fluffy.
- Ensure the donut pan is well-greased to prevent sticking.
- Adjust baking time as needed based on your oven’s performance, checking around 12 minutes.
- Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor and texture.
