Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- ½ teaspoon of baking soda
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1 cup of unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3 large apples, peeled and sliced (Granny Smith or Fuji work well)
- ½ cup of brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- ½ cup of powdered sugar (for drizzle)
- 2–3 tablespoons of milk (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan or baking dish.
- Make the crumb topping by combining 1½ cups of flour, ½ cup of sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Cut in the butter until crumbly and set aside.
- Toss sliced apples with brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Set aside.
- Mix remaining flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Gently fold in apple slices.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over the batter.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
- Once the cake has cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze over the top. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use cold butter for a crunchy crumb topping.
- Chop apples into uniform slices for even baking.
- Adjust the glaze thickness by varying milk and powdered sugar.
