  • Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
  • Yield: 8 slices

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon of baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3 large apples, peeled and sliced (Granny Smith or Fuji work well)
  • ½ cup of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • ½ cup of powdered sugar (for drizzle)
  • 23 tablespoons of milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan or baking dish.
  2. Make the crumb topping by combining 1½ cups of flour, ½ cup of sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Cut in the butter until crumbly and set aside.
  3. Toss sliced apples with brown sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  4. Mix remaining flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Gently fold in apple slices.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over the batter.
  6. Bake for 45–50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Prepare glaze by mixing powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  8. Once the cake has cooled slightly, drizzle the glaze over the top. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use cold butter for a crunchy crumb topping.
  • Chop apples into uniform slices for even baking.
  • Adjust the glaze thickness by varying milk and powdered sugar.
