Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray and set aside. Mash bananas until smooth.
- In a large bowl, combine mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Whisk until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring gently to combine.
- Fold in chocolate chips with a spatula, ensuring even distribution. Optional: add chopped nuts or dried fruits.
- Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cover with foil if browning too quickly.
- Remove from oven and cool in pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use bananas with lots of brown spots or black for maximum sweetness and moisture.
- Reduce sugar to 1/2 cup or substitute with honey or maple syrup for a healthier option.
- Swap butter with coconut oil or dairy-free margarine for a dairy-free version.
- Enhance texture with chopped nuts or shredded coconut.
