Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 4 slices of cooked ham
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup of bread crumbs
- 1 teaspoon of paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil or melted butter
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from chicken breasts and slice each in half horizontally to create thin cutlets.
- Pound the cutlets with a meat mallet to about 1/4 inch thickness for even cooking.
- Lay a slice of Swiss cheese on each cutlet, add a slice of ham, and roll up tightly, securing with toothpicks if needed.
- Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: seasoned flour, beaten eggs, and bread crumbs mixed with paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Dip each chicken roll in flour, then eggs, and coat thoroughly with bread crumbs.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the coated chicken on a greased baking sheet or wire rack over a baking sheet.
- Drizzle with olive oil or melted butter and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Remove from oven, let rest for a few minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve hot.
Notes
- Secure the rolls with toothpicks to prevent unwrapping during baking.
- You can substitute Swiss cheese with mozzarella or cheddar for different flavors.
- For extra crunch, add grated Parmesan cheese to the bread crumbs.
- Serve with sides like mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.
