Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla, and mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. In a small bowl, mix remaining sugar with additional cinnamon for coating.
  6. Shape dough into 1 1/2-inch balls, then roll in cinnamon sugar mixture.
  7. Place on baking sheets lined with parchment paper, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Remove from oven, let cool for a few minutes, then transfer to wire racks. Enjoy!
