Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (or turkey for a leaner option)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Optional: chopped parsley or basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Take small portions of the meat mixture (about 1-2 tablespoons), flatten into circles, place a small amount of shredded cheese in the center, and enclose the meat around the cheese, shaping into smooth balls.
- Arrange the stuffed meatloaf balls on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. For crispier bites, broil for an additional 2-3 minutes, watching closely.
- Remove from oven, let rest for a few minutes, garnish with parsley or basil if desired, and serve with your favorite dipping sauces or side dishes.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add chopped herbs or spices to the meat mixture.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Use a mix of cheeses like cheddar or pepper jack for variation.
- Make ahead by assembling the bites and refrigerating before baking.
