- 1 lb (450g) ground beef or turkey
- 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix ground meat, chopped spinach, shredded mozzarella, minced garlic, chopped onion, grated Parmesan, egg, breadcrumbs, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape into 1.5-inch meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear the meatballs until golden brown on all sides, about 4-5 minutes per batch.
- Arrange the cooked meatballs in a baking dish, top with additional mozzarella if desired, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
Notes
- For easier shaping, use a burger scoop or meatball mold.
- To make gluten-free, substitute breadcrumbs with crushed almonds or gluten-free breadcrumbs.
- For an extra flavor boost, add red pepper flakes or fresh herbs.
