- 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ teaspoons)
- ½ cup warm milk
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 8 slices of bacon, cooked crispy and crumbled
- ½ cup pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup bourbon
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- Additional maple syrup and bacon for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, and salt in a large bowl. Mix well.
- In a separate bowl, warm the milk to about 110°F, then whisk in melted butter, sugar, vanilla, bourbon, and eggs until smooth.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry, stirring until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until elastic. Let rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
- Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt to prepare the filling. Punch down the dough and roll into a 16×12 inch rectangle.
- Spread butter over the dough, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture, and evenly distribute crumbled bacon.
- Roll tightly from the longer side to create a log. Slice into 12 pieces and place in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Let the rolls rise for 30 minutes, then bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Meanwhile, prepare the bourbon maple glaze by mixing powdered sugar, bourbon, and maple syrup.
- Once baked, drizzle the glaze over warm rolls. Top with extra maple syrup and bacon bits if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, use thick-cut bacon and real bourbon.
- You can prepare the dough a day ahead and refrigerate overnight.
- Glaze consistency can be adjusted by adding more powdered sugar or bourbon as desired.
