- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms (white or cremini)
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 cup beef broth (or vegetable broth for a vegetarian twist)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or milk (optional for creaminess)
- Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated. Form into evenly sized oval or round patties.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil. Once hot, fry the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add more oil if needed and sauté sliced mushrooms until tender and browned. Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir well to coat.
- Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. For creamier gravy, add heavy cream or milk and mix well. Garnish with herbs.
- Return the patties to the skillet, spoon mushroom gravy over them, and simmer for 5 minutes for flavors to meld. Serve hot with mashed potatoes, vegetables, or your favorite sides.
