- 2 cups fresh blackberries

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
- Combine dry ingredients and gradually add to wet mixture, alternating with milk.
- Divide batter equally into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool completely.
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Fold in some blackberries to the frosting if desired.
- Assemble the cake layers with blackberry filling, then frost and decorate with fresh blackberries.
