Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (gluten-free optional)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 large egg or flaxseed egg (vegan option)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Burger buns and toppings like lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese
Instructions
- Mash the black beans in a large bowl until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
- Add chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, pepper, and egg or flaxseed egg. Mix until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into four equal parts and shape each into a patty about 1/2 inch thick.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown or bake at 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Serve on toasted buns with your favorite toppings and condiments.
Notes
- If mixture is too wet, add more breadcrumbs to hold together.
- For extra crunch, coat patties with additional breadcrumbs or panko before cooking.
- Reheat leftovers in a skillet or oven for best texture.
- Freeze patties separated with parchment paper for up to 3 months.
