Ingredients
Scale
- 1 block of extra-firm tofu, pressed
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for extra crispiness)
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Wrap the block of extra-firm tofu in several layers of paper towels and press with a heavy object for at least 30 minutes.
- Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes.
- In a bowl, mix cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
- Toss the tofu cubes in the mixture until evenly coated.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and spread the tofu on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Notes
- Pressing is key for crispy texture; the drier the tofu, the better.
- Don’t overcrowd the pan to ensure even baking.
- Baking at high heat enhances crispiness.
- A drizzle of oil can add richness and extra crispiness.
