Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. In another dish, beat the eggs. Dip each chicken breast into the eggs, then dredge in the breadcrumb mixture.
- Lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil. Place the breaded chicken in the dish and spoon marinara sauce over each piece. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted and bubbly (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving hot over spaghetti or with a side salad. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
- Pound the chicken breasts to an even thickness for consistent cooking.
- Use high-quality marinara sauce and mozzarella for the best flavor.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan; use two baking dishes if necessary.
- Let the dish rest for a few minutes after baking to set the cheese.
