Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then add milk and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in diced apples and melted butter.
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions and lightly oil it.
- Pour batter onto the waffle iron to cover the surface evenly, then close and cook for 3-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the waffle donuts and place on a wire rack to cool slightly.
- Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully fry the waffle donuts for 1-2 minutes per side until extra crispy.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
