  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 40-50 saltine crackers
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with saltine crackers.
  2. Melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat until boiling, then simmer for 3 minutes.
  3. Pour caramel over crackers, spreading evenly. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on hot caramel. Wait 2 minutes, then spread melted chocolate evenly.
  5. Sprinkle chopped nuts over the chocolate if desired. Refrigerate until set, then break into pieces.
